When you don’t obey God things won’t go your way

  • Cain’s sacrifice was not acceptable because he didn’t offer what he was supposed to offer, the first fruits of his labor. God didn’t accept his offering. Genesis 4:3-5
  • Eli’s sons did not respect offerings to the Lord. 1 Samuel 2:12-17 They died violent deaths as a result. 1 Samuel 2:29-34
  • Saul did not destroy everything as he was instructed. God dethroned him. 1 Samuel 15

God doesn’t need your ideas about how something should be done. (In the book of Genesis you can read about how things worked out for Abraham and Sarah when they decided they had to help God keep his promise of a son.)

traffic in mirrorJust follow His direction as best as you understand it. Don’t worry that you don’t know exactly how things will work out. You don’t wait until all the lights are green before you start driving to work, do you? Nor do you know what will happen along the way. A car might be broken down in your lane, a dog might run out onto the road, the lane you’re in might open up and let you zoom ahead. It doesn’t matter, you just deal with whatever happens when it happens.

angelWhen you’re following God’s plan, you can be sure He will get you through whatever obstacles try to slow you down or stop you. Remember, you’re just a soldier in God’s army. If He wants you to follow His directions, don’t you think He will deploy as much of His army as needed to make you succeed? His army includes other Christians and angels as well as His own miraculous power. You will succeed where God wants you to succeed.

Don’t be thrown off by a “quick left turn.” Just because you didn’t expect to turn left there, doesn’t mean you aren’t supposed to. God knows the way.

trail rideHe’s looking out for you and he has your best interests at heart. For instance if he takes you to a stable to ride horses, he won’t pick the bucking bronco, nor the pony that just goes around in circles. No, he’ll select a trail horse that will carry you safely along a beautiful trail. That trail may have meadows that are easy to ride across, and it may well have some tougher mountains to cross, but you can be sure that the trusty steed your Father selected for you will get you through.
